Impressive U’s are back in the groove

Colchester United 3-0 Plymouth Argyle

COLCHESTER UNITED swiftly returned to Sky Bet League Two winning ways by brushing aside promotion rivals, Plymouth Argyle, by three unanswered goals at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The U’s surrendered their mammoth sixteen-match unbeaten run at struggling Cambridge United seven days previously. However, the fired-up North-Essex outfit had sewn up a match, many believed would be a test of character, inside the opening half.

Ben Stevenson’s neat finish opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour, before a brace from in-form frontman, Theo Robinson – taking him past 100 career league goals – sealed the victory, leaving the U’s in fifth place, five points off the top three.

Colchester United will be looking to close that gap further on Tuesday, February 11 when they take on Grimsby Town at the JobServe Community Stadium (7:45pm).
