In-form Blues continue to shine

Southend United v Boreham Wood – Vanarama National League – Roots Hall Stadium – Report

Southend United 4-2 Boreham Wood

Southend United saw off relegation-threatened Boreham Wood in an entertaining Vanarama National League encounter at Roots Hall Stadium, extending their recent unbeaten sequence to thirteen matches.

Southend never really looked troubled by a Boreham Wood side that has been something of a bogey side since the Blues were relegated in 2021.

Gus Scott-Morriss, James Morton and Jack Bridge all found the net during a devastating opening twenty-three minutes, and although Cameron Coxe pulled one back three minutes after the restart, Bridge netted from the spot after Danny Waldron had been fouled.

Matt Robinson reduced the arrears, but there was no way back for the visitors, who are three points from safety.

Southend remain in tenth place. They return to Vanarama National League action on Tuesday, April 9, when they face Wealdstone at Grosvenor Vale (7:45pm).
