Harrogate Town v Colchester United – Sky Bet League Two – The EnviroVent Stadium – Report

Harrogate Town 1-3 Colchester United

Improving Colchester United opened up a six-point lead between themselves and the Sky Bet Two relegation places after recording an impressive 3-1 victory over fellow strugglers Harrogate Town at the EnviroVent Stadium.

This was the U’s fourth victory in seven matches and again suggested that Head Coach Matt Bloomfield has changed the clubs flagging fortunes.

John Akinde handed Colchester an early lead after Junior Tchamadeu had created an opening and it was two-nil before the twenty-minuter mark. The revitalised Noah Chilvers heading home after Tom Dallison nodded on a Luke Chambers free-kick.

Samson Tovide provided Tchamadeu with the opportunity to add a third nine minutes after the restart.

Harrogate reduced the arrears through leading marksman Luke Armstrong. The result moved the U’s up to twentieth place in the table
