Internationally acclaimed classical guitarist returns to Southend with civic centre concert

Internationally acclaimed classical guitarist and composer, Gary Ryan, returns to Southend on Friday May 17.

Gary last performed in the city over five years ago. The British performer, who currently pursues a busy and highly varied international career as a performer and composer, is also Professor of Guitar at the Royal College of Music. He regularly gets invited to perform all over the world.

Tickets are now on sale for this performance in Southend, which will be held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend.

The concert will include works by Bach, Albeniz, John Dowland, Villa Lobos and a selection of Ryan’s own compositions and arrangements.

Gary is also in great demand as a chamber musician and regularly performs with John Williams and John Etheridge in the Guitar Trio 6 Hands.

Councilor David Garston, deputy cabinet member for arts, culture, heritage and leisure, said: “We are delighted that Southend will be welcoming Gary Ryan once more to perform as part of our much-loved council concert series.
