Investigation into death of man in Southend

Police investigating the death of a man in Southend are appealing for witnesses and information.

Officers attended Marine Parade after they were called at around 11.55pm on Saturday March 23.

A man, aged in his 50s, died at the scene.

His death is being treated as unexpected.

Detective Chief Inspector Ant Alcock, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are working quickly to establish what happened in the period of time before the man’s death.

“We would ask anyone who was in the area last night to get in contact with us if they have anything that could help.”

A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation.
