Iron win on the road

Hemel Hempstead v Braintree Town – Vanarama National League South – Focus Community Arena – Report

Hemel Hempstead 0-2 Braintree Town

Will Davies netted both goals in Braintree Town’s 2-0 win at Hemel Hempstead as the Iron recorded their second win in a row – following the 2-0 success over Weston-super-Mare on Saturday – and they are now unbeaten in seven Vanarama National League matches.

Angelo Harrop’s side took the lead in the twenty-fifth minute when Reggie Lambe played the ball short to the edge of the area for Davies to fire home into the bottom corner of the net past Hemel keeper Craig King.

With Braintree going into the break one goal to the good, the Tudors went close to grabbing an equaliser just after the hour mark, when substitute Daniel Powell, despite slipping the ball past Vicente Reyes, saw Leon Davies get back just in time to clear his effort off the line.

Will Davies’ second goal of the evening came in the seventy-eighth minute when the former Leiston striker tapped in Lambe’s cross to make it 2-0 and seal the points for the Iron.

Next up for Braintree Town is a visit to Huish Park to play Yeovil Town on Saturday, October 28 (3pm).
