Leyton Orient v Port Vale – Breyer Group Stadium – Sky Bet League Two – Saturday 3pm

Leyton Orient v Port Vale – Preview:

PETER KITCHEN recognised the importance of Leyton Orient’s Sky bet League Two clash with Port Vale at the Breyer Group Stadium and urged the players to win it, not only for themselves and the supporters but for the interim boss, Ross Embleton, who announced his intentions to stand down on the appointment of a new Head Coach at the club.

O’s go into the match without a league success in six matches. Nevertheless, Kitchen believed this was a winnable match for the east Londoners.

“Vale has had some inconsistent results, they will be desperate to kickstart their own season,” the former frontman told Yellow Sport.

“They picked up a morale-boosting win at Macclesfield Town in the EFL Trophy during the week. They certainly won’t be pushovers. But it has been another emotional week at Brisbane Road. I think the O’s players will be keen to do it for Ross, especially with everything he’s had to deal with.

“It’s imperative that Orient end their wretched run, particularly in front of our own supporters. It’s something we must do together – something to share.

“Ross has done a terrific job, bringing some continuity and stability during a difficult period for the club. He will continue to do so until the club can make a permanent appointment, so with the pressure off his relatively young shoulders, this is an opportunity to be brave and for the O’s to take the game to the visitors and learn how to win again.”

Kitchen continued: “It is vital that Orient cut out the basic defensive errors and take their chances when presented. However, they must be prepared to compete first and to do this, they must win their own physical battles all over the pitch.

“We know the team like to play pretty football and at times they do play some good stuff. But it’s now time for the players to take responsibility – stand up and be counted. If they do, they will have the fans behind them straight from the kick-off.”
