Maldon & Tiptree 0-1 Newport County

MALDON & TIPTREE’S Emirates FA Cup adventure was brought to a conclusion after Padraig Amond’s late header saw Sky Bet League Two outfit, Newport County, triumph in a well-contested tie at Park Drive.

Amond arrived unchallenged to firmly nod George Nurse’s pinpoint centre beyond Jammers goalkeeper, Ben McNamara as the tie moved into stoppage time.

The BetVictor Isthmian North club gave as good as they got, with Stephane Ngamvoulou providing the non-leaguer’s best moments. However, there were to be no further fairytales for the side that sensationally dispatched Leyton Orient in the previous round.

There was a concern for Newport’s Kyle Howkins after the defender clashed heads with Jammers’ Charlee Hughes – the stricken defender was treated for several minutes before being carried from the field on a stretcher.
