Justin will be remembered but it’s business as usual for the O’s

Northampton Town v Leyton Orient – PTS Academy Stadium – Sky Bet League Two – Saturday 3pm

Northampton Town v Leyton Orient – Preview:

PETER KITCHEN insisted it will be a case of ‘business as usual’ behind the scenes as Leyton Orient and Northampton Town prepare ahead of an emotional Sky Bet League Two reminder of the late Justin Edinburgh.

Edinburgh managed both clubs and his passing was received with equal sadness. Both will want to put in a performance the former Tottenham defender would be proud of.

“I understand that Northampton will be paying tribute to Justin, something both sets of supporters will respect and appreciate,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.

“But the lead-up to the game is business as usual. Orient face a Northampton side who have just begun to find some consistency. The Cobblers are mid-table, unbeaten in their last four matches. But the tight nature of the division means they are within touching distance of the O’s, themselves keen to get going after a winless run stretching back seven games.

“Saturday’s draw with Port Vale was spirited. It is important that the O’s don’t become nervy. We are keen for the dismal run to end and don’t want to find ourselves in a dogfight towards the bottom, particularly as the season is still relatively young.

On the management situation at Brisbane Road, Kitchen added: “I’m sure plenty is going on behind the scenes with several names touted.

However, Ross is getting on with the task in hand. I think the team seemed to play with a little more freedom last weekend. They are quite capable of producing some good football and scoring goals when they go forward with conviction

“But whoever comes in, they will need to make the Orient more compact as a unit, eliminating defensive errors and frailties – bringing a bit more steel to the side.”
