Ahmed Khawaja once again provided the fireworks as Old Southendian & Southchurch comfortably saw off Loughton and moved into second place in the Division Two table.

The Garon Park crowd were treated to a masterclass from the talented Pakistani all-rounder. Khawaja’s unbeaten 157 was the catalyst for the Old Boys’ latest success.

Wicketkeeper/batsman, Matthew Darvill was amongst the runs, hitting a valuable 40 as the home side posted a sizable 281/6 – Nabeel Akhtar taking 3/29 for the East Londoners.

Lahore-born Khawaja then did his bit with the ball, taking 2/13 from nine overs. Nevertheless, Jamil Ahmed did the most damage with 4/48, helping the Seasiders to a comfortable 119-run victory.
