Feroze Khushi and Robin Das both scored explosive unbeaten centuries as Essex’s second string grabbed some vital match practice against Hertfordshire at Blunts Wall Road.
Khushi retired not out on 102 off 119 balls, while Das similarly departed after hitting 103 from 130 before Essex declared their innings on 243/5.
Jack Plom was the most successful of six bowlers utilises by the home side, taking 4/60 from his thirteen overs.
N Dwivedi chipped in with 2/28 from five restricting Hertfordshire to 166/7 at the close. Skipper Hussain with an impressive half-century for the visitors.
