Pakistani all-rounder, Ahmed Khawaja provided yet another virtuoso performance helping Old Southendian & Southchurch to a 30-run success at Orsett & Thurrock.

Khawaja scored his sixth century of the season before taking six wickets to ensure the visitors’ victory.

His 143 came off 127 balls and included no less than fifteen 4s and eight 6s before he fell to a delivery from Mark Pavitt, the Orsett bowler finished with figures of three for 50.

With the ball, Khawaja returned 6/38. Meanwhile, former Essex man, Andy McGarry took 3/74.

Wicketkeeper/batter, Manoj Sarathchandra, top-scored for the home side with 65, while Lewis Lockyer hit 43 but all to no avail.
