Kitch believes a bolder, braver O’s can get back on track

Harrogate Town v Leyton Orient – Sky Bet League Two – The EnviroVent Stadium – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Peter Kitchen is hoping that Leyton Orient can beat the weather as well as Saturday’s opponents, Harrogate Town as they look to get their Sky Bet League Two play-off challenge back on track following back-to-back goalless draws.

The O’s were denied a further opportunity to display their credentials when a frozen pitch ensured the late postponement of Tuesday evenings trip to Carlisle United.

“It was a frustratingly wasted trip, hopefully, we will get a game this time,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.

“Harrogate are finding their first season in the league a challenge. The momentum following promotion has slightly subsided with several inconsistent results and performances hindering any hopes of a promotion challenge of their own.

“The Sulphurites followed an impressive 3-1 win at Crawley Town with a 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham, leaving then in fifteenth place, ten points above the dropzone.

“Despite the midweek postponement, Orient remains in tenth, four points behind the top seven. We still have a great opportunity but nothing less than three points will do if those aspirations are serious.”

Kitchen continued: “The likely return of leading scorer Danny Johnson is a big boost, giving us encouragement and a cutting edge, providing we can supply the ammunition.

“Recent performances have seen us defensively secure. However, we’ve not scored in any of our last four outings. The performance needs to be far more adventurous and creative going forward.

“The Onus for this rests firmly with the attitude of Head coach, Ross Embleton. For me, he needs to lead the way by being braver and more ambitious in his approach. If he is, I believe this squad is good enough, and the players will respond accordingly.”

Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Harrogate Town 0-1 Leyton Orient
