Cambridge United v Leyton Orient – Sky Bet League Two – Abbey Stadium – Saturday 1pm – Preview
Peter Kitchen insisted Leyton Orient can come through their Christmas fixtures with maximum points, starting with Boxing Day’s trip to out of sorts Cambridge United.
The O’s head to the Abbey Stadium before hosting Southend United at the Breyer Group Stadium: “Both these games are winnable and maximum points will propel us back amongst the leading pack,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.
“It’s an important week for the O’s as we look to bounce back from the two defeats, restoring confidence and a little momentum. The situation isn’t beyond redemption. We are still only three points behind Salford in seventh – who we face at the turn of the year.
Kitchen continued: “Cambridge are not enjoying the best of form, having initially started the season well. They have won only one of their last seven league matches, including a single-goal setback at strugglers, Bradford City at the weekend. Nevertheless, they sit just above the O’s in ninth and are within sight of the play-off places.
“It’s a crucial game for both sides and there have been some lively clashes in the past. It’s difficult to predict exactly how Head Coach, Ross Embleton, will approach the game – Go all out to win or sit deep and try to avoid defeat?
“Both sides will believe they should be amongst the contenders and both will believe they should be performing better consistently. Either way, I think this could be a feisty, competitive encounter with very little in it.”
Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Cambridge United 1-1 Leyton Orient
Jeevesie’s prediction: Cambridge United 0-1 Leyton Orient
