Leyton Orient v Blackpool – Sky Bet League One – Brisbane Road — Tuesday (7:45pm) – Preview

Peter Kitchen has urged the Leyton Orient players to embrace the opportunity when fellow play-off contenders Blackpool are the visitors to E10 for what is sure to be an eagerly anticipated Sky Bet League One encounter.

While the O’s were coming from behind to see off Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium, Blackpool maintained their two-point and one-place advantage over the East Londoners by thrashing local rivals Bolton Wanderers by four goals to one at Bloomfield Road.

“It’s all set up to be a cracking match,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.

“The carrot of leapfrogging Blackpool is dangling in front of us, although I’d say the pressure and expectation are largely on the visitors.

“Of course, Richie Wellens will set us up to go out and win the game, but I think we are more in a position to simply play our football, what with the Tangerines probably being the slight favourites.”

Kitchen continued: “As I’ve already mentioned, we need to relax and see where the rest of this season takes us. Three points against Blackpool will no doubt raise our expectations further as supporters, especially after Oxford. But I reiterate, either way, we are in a good place as a football club and that is the bigger picture.”

Looking ahead to Blackpool, Kitchen concluded: “Neil Critchley is doing a decent job in what is his second spell with the Seasiders.

“They are looking to bounce back at the earliest opportunity following relegation last season and they are reasonably well placed for a shot at the play-offs.

“Their 4-1 win over Bolton was an eye-catching result and provided evidence of what they are capable of on their day.

“But I think this is a great opportunity for the O’s to relax and play. Indeed, if both sides offer what they are capable of, then the Brisbane Road crowd could be in for a memorable occasion.”

Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Leyton Orient 1-1 Blackpool

Jeevesie’s prediction: Leyton Orient 2-2 Blackpool
