Carlisle United v Leyton Orient – Sky Bet League Two – Brunton Park – Tuesday 2:30pm – Preview
Peter Kitchen is expecting an intriguing contest when Leyton Orient head to Cumbria on Tuesday afternoon.
The O’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Carlisle United has been brought forward to the early afternoon in a bid to ensure the Brunton Park pitch is playable before the freezing conditions close in.
“Orient have an opportunity to breathe life into their diminishing play-off hopes, but to do so we must take all three points,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.
“Carlisle has only played twice since January 2 due to the pandemic and bad weather. Despite the fact they currently occupy sixth place, Orient might find them a little rusty and could profit from their lack of match practice.
“Either way, it has the makings of a competitive encounter. The O’s must focus on the positives from their previous two games – the clean sheets. The pairing of Adam Thompson and Tunji Akinola has provided an altogether more solid look. However, it must be said that neither Crawley nor Colchester offered too much of a threat, although both passed up big chances to win the games.”
Kitchen continued: “Orient need to start winning matches, but have lacked creativity and penetration going forward which is a real concern.
“Ross Embleton’s side hasn’t scored in four matches and even with leading marksman, Danny Johnson back in the side, they must play at a higher tempo and with much more purpose in the final third in a bid to hurt the hosts.
“But recent signs do not inspire confidence. I certainly believe we have a group capable of challenging the top seven. But how they are deployed remains questionable as our form continues to be erratic.”
Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Carlisle United 2-1 Leyton Orient
Jeevesie’s prediction: Carlisle United 2-0 Leyton Orient
