Kitch concerned that O’s lack fluidity

Colchester United v Leyton Orient – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Three successive defeats and wholesale changes to the line-up has left Peter Kitchen a little concerned ahead of Leyton Orient’s Sky Bet League Two trip to Colchester United on Saturday.

After O’s recent league revival was ended by Forest Green Rovers, FA Cup and EFL trophy losses to Newport County and Charlton Athletic will have dented confidence.

“We appear to have lost some of the fluidity and cohesion,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.

“Ross Embleton rang the changes for both cup matches. I believe this to be a contributing factor for the defeats, with performances below par and disappointing.

“I think it needs to be highlighted to Ross the importance of keeping a settled side, particularly down the spine of the team.”

“It’s likely the Head Coach will revert to something similar to the line-up which gleaned ten points from twelve on offer recently.

“However, in football, it is very difficult to turn performances on and off at a stroke. I fear any momentum built from that sequence of results has now been lost. It is therefore vital that he gets the team back on track quickly, keeping the leaders within our sights.”

Kitchen added: “Both sides were dumped out of the FA Cup last weekend – Colchester by non-league Marine on a penalty shootout. But they bounced back with a 6-1 thrashing of hapless Southend United in the Trophy. The U’s confidence will be sky-high.

“Both sides are treading water in the league at the moment. A win can catapult them amongst the contenders. This is no longer the early part of the season. Momentum needs to be found and contained by Orient if we are to be recognised as a contender later in the season.”

Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Colchester United 3-1 Leyton Orient
