Leyton Orient v Bradford City – Sky Bet League Two – Breyer Group Stadium – Tuesday 7pm – Preview
Having waxed lyrical over a return to winning ways for Leyton Orient, Peter Kitchen has urged the East Londoners to swiftly back up Saturday’s three-goal triumph over Harrogate Town with another three-point haul when Bradford City are the visitors on Tuesday evening.
The victory moved the O’s into the top half of Sky Bet League Two and despite several false dawns, Kitchen thinks Ross Embleton and his men should be setting their sights firmly on the play-off places.
“We set the standard on Saturday – that’s the benchmark, the manager could see it, the fans know it and the players looked comfortable with it,” the former frontman told Yellow Sport.
“We have a goalscorer in Danny Johnson who, if utilised correctly, will provide a return of at least 25 goals, if not more this season. That is our main strength. We must play with the same intensity and supply him with the ammunition to win us football matches.
“Of course, once again Jobi McAnuff pulled the strings. I think several teams in League Two could become promotion contenders if he was in their side. But there were other plusses on Saturday. Conor Wilkinson worked tirelessly, while defensively, Joe Widdowson – so often a non-starter – gave a solid display, underlining the importance of his experience.
“I know Harrogate arrived in a poor run of form, but we did what was required and comfortably beat what was put in front of us.”
Looking ahead to the visit of a struggling Bradford side, Kitchen added. Bradford might be a little more open than Harrogate. However, player for player Orient has greater quality.
“We should be expecting to win the game and with a similar team attitude and approach to that of Saturday, then I’m sure we will.”
Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Leyton Orient 2-0 Bradford City
Jeevesie’s prediction: Leyton Orient 3-1 Bradford City
