Kitch impressed with a typical Jackett performance

Leyton Orient 2-0 Bradford City

Peter Kitchen gave a nod of approval, describing Leyton Orient’s 2-0 Sky Bet League Two victory over Bradford City as a “typical Kenny Jackett team performance.”

“It’s exactly what I’d expected from an experienced manager who has been there and done this before,” the former O’s frontman told Yellow Sport.

Second-half goals from Ruel Sotiriou and Harry Smith proved decisive for the O’s as Bradford were dealt their first defeat of the campaign.

“Kenny Jacket stated after the Harrogate defeat, that he wanted his team to bounce back and needed a performance and he got just that with the perfect response from his players,” Kitch added.

“Free-scoring Bradford have been in decent form. It was a battling performance from Orient, completely nullifying the second-placed visitors, particularly during the first half. I think our performance was significantly enhanced because of the quality of their opposition. All the same, the E10 faithful went home very happy.”

Kitchen continued: “The manager made three changes to the side which had lost to Harrogate Town, recalling Craig Clay, Connor Wood and Ruel Sotiriou and was then forced into another change, replacing Dan Happe with Shadrach Ogiea after the former pulled up during the warm-up.

“Regardless, Orient bossed it, recording a massive victory which brought back the fans early-season optimism, particularly now they have seen them recover from a setback with some style.

“With no game in midweek, we now have a full week for injuries to heal ahead of next Saturday’s trip to Newport County – a side emphatically beaten by three goals to nil at Salford City on Saturday.

“It provides another opportunity for us to make a strong claim for a place amongst the top seven, even at this early stage of the season.”
