Leyton Orient v Walsall – Sky Bet League Two – The Breyer Group Stadium – Saturday (3pm) – Preview
Peter Kitchen is looking forward to a huge week ahead for Leyton Orient, with Walsall and leaders, Forest Green Rovers visiting the Breyer Group Stadium for huge Sky Bet League Two encounters.
First up are the improving Saddlers, who followed up a point at Exeter City with a notable 2-1 success over Salford City at the Bescot Stadium last weekend: “Kenny Jackett will be desperate to see his side reignite their promotion push – It’s a massive week,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.
“We have been smouldering of late, taking just two points from three games – Drawing two matches that perhaps we should have won while losing at Port Vale after leading heading into stoppage-time.
“Jackett will target a return to winning ways against a Walsall side languishing sixth from bottom, but who have significantly stepped up of late. Despite their lowly league position, the Black Country club are only five points behind the O’s, highlighting just how tight the table is right now.”
The former frontman continued: “Jackett will have Paul Smyth back from International duty with Northern Ireland and almost a full squad to choose from, with several attacking permutations to consider and also attacking options on the bench. With plenty of competition for places, his forwards will all be keen to show they deserve to start.
“This match has to be all about what the O’s can do. We are at home, are in a play-off place, just six points behind the leaders and will have the fans fully behind us.
“The manager shouldn’t need to motivate the players. It’s vital that we start well and don’t end up having to chase the game. I know it’s a case of one game at a time, but a win will set us up perfectly ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Rovers.
Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Leyton Orient 2-1 Walsall
Jeevesie’s prediction: Leyton Orient 1-0 Walsall
