Leyton Orient v Morecambe – Sky Bet League Two – Breyer Group Stadium – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Peter Kitchen is looking forward to Leyton Orient’s Sky Bet League Two clash with this season’s surprise package, Morecambe.

The Shrimps were amongst the bookies’ favourites for relegation before a ball was kicked. However, Derek Adams’ side has largely impressed throughout the first half of the campaign and currently stand on the cusp of the play-off places, having won each of their last four league outings.

“Morecambe are definitely promotion contenders,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.

“They stick to the managers’ gameplan, play to their strengths and with a couple of games in hand, they could be a good bet.

“Last weekend’s FA Cup defeat at Chelsea might have deflated them a little. We must be ready to take any advantage, especially with the O’s squad fresh following a week of inactivity.”

Kitchen hoped the O’s have learned some lessons from their recent 2-1 defeat at the Globe Arena, adding: “It’s only a month ago so should still be relatively fresh in everyone’s minds.

“Morecambe are powerful and like to get the ball forward quickly and accurately and into areas they know they can hurt teams. They are not a stereotypical ‘direct’ side. The manager has installed his methods on the group and they have responded superbly. If they are at full-strength it will be a really tough task for the O’s.”

Kitchen continued: “Ross Embleton is back in the dugout following a period of self-isolation. He will be keen to preside over an O’s win which would see the team leapfrog their visitors in the table.

“O’s have won their last two and six of their last eight at the Breyer Group Stadium, displaying the right credentials for a play-off challenge of their own.

“Both teams are aware of the importance of the game, especially with only one point between them. For Orient, it is all about how they approach the game and what they do. Can they recapture the rhythm and togetherness which was so evident during the win over Salford City a couple of weeks ago?”

Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Leyton Orient 2-2 Morecambe
Jeevesie’s prediction: Leyton Orient 1-1 Morecambe
