Tranmere Rovers v Leyton Orient – Sky Bet League Two – Prenton Park – Tuesday 7:45pm – Preview
In a week where Ross Embleton and his Leyton Orient side has been roundly criticised, Peter Kitchen offered a timely reminder that everyone with an interest in the East London outfit wants the same positive outcome.
The O’s haven’t won a Sky Bet League Two match since the opening day of the season and slipped closer to the dropzone following their error-strewn defeat at the hands of Grimsby Town at the weekend.
And with a tricky trip to Tranmere Rovers coming up on Tuesday evening, Kitchen offered an honest assessment although made it clear that like any O’s supporter, he just wants the best for the club.
“Although I wouldn’t say its a must-win game, the pressure is certainly on Ross and the team,” the former frontman told Yellow Sport.
“We are in a difficult place right now, while Tranmere will see it as an opportunity to jump into the top half of the table. Another defeat could see us bumping up with those in the bottom six. We need to turn the corner – and fast!
But despite their recent troubles, Kitchen believes Orient have a squad capable of moving in the bright direction: “We have goals in the team – a couple of positive results will send us up the table. I think it’s important the team demonstrate that they can play with belief and be proactive and positive.
“Of course, it’s not time to panic just yet. However, the only way for Ross to answer his critics is to show how quickly he can learn.
“Team selection, squad rotation and the system have all been a topic of heated conversation amongst us all. If the manager and team can prove they have taken on board these concerns, then the fine balance between losing and winning might start to tip in our direction.”
Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Tranmere Rovers 2-1 Leyton Orient
Jeevesie’s prediction: Tranmere Rovers 3-1 Leyton Orient
