Morecambe v Leyton Orient – Sky Bet League Two – Globe Arena – Tuesday 6:30pm – Preview
Peter Kitchen believed Leyton Orient had displayed their Sky Bet League Two play-off credentials during Saturday’s impressive 2-1 success over leaders Newport County. However, the former frontman is expecting a different sort of challenge when the East Londoners head to the North West on Tuesday evening.
Orient face a Morecambe side who has surprised quite a few this season, having been placed amongst the favourites for the drop before the ball was kicked.
The Shrimps currently occupy tenth place but will leapfrog Orient with a win at the Globe Arena.
“Its a winnable match but one me must be wary of,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.
“It will be a different challenge to Saturday. Morecambe will be a little more direct than Newport. I think it will be more of a physical battle.
“But the win on Saturday reiterated our qualities, particularly when at full-strength. Ross Embleton got it right tactically at the weekend. This will be another test of his, and the teams, versatility against a different type of opponent.
Kitchen continued: “It doesn’t mean we have to match Morecambe tactically – far from it. We just have to stand up to them.
“Orient are likely to have a lot of the ball with Morecambe content to break up the play and throw it forward. It works for them – we have to be clever and decisive.
“Morecambe only saw the ball for a third of their game with Harrogate Town on Saturday. However, they created more than double the visitors’ chances, with plenty of shots recorded on target.
“We’ll need to make a fast start. Be on the front foot, be busy and creative while stopping them getting the ball forward quickly when it breaks down.
“It’ll be a tough game – as tough as Newport. But just another test to pass if we are serious about challenging for promotion.”
Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Morecambe 1-1 Leyton Orient
Jeevesie’s prediction: Morecambe 1-2 Leyton Orient
