Old Southendian 0-1 Rayleigh Town
Connor Lane was left cursing Old Southendian’s luck after a second-half goal from Harry Talbot saw visitors’ Rayleigh Town claim all three ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division points at Garon Park.
Talbot’s strike settled a game of few clearcut opportunities. The result – Town’s first win of the campaign – left the Old Boys licking their wounds at the foot of the table, without a point from two matches
“It’s Not the start we wanted this season but the luck seems to be against at present,” Lane told Yellow Sport.
“I thought it was an even game with both sides, with very few chances A defensive error was the difference. Rayleigh capitalised – it was a tidy finish from the lad.
Lane added: “I thought we started the game brightly and had more possession.
“After the break, we tried to press more which gave us opportunities, but we failed to test their goalkeeper. They took their chance and could have had another but for a super save from Pete Loveday.”
