Old Southendian 2-1 Springfield

CONNOR LANE breathed a huge sigh of relief after overseeing his Old Southendian sides 2-1 ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division victory over leaders Springfield – their first success in five attempts.

Nicolas Dubouchet bagged a brace – the second four minutes from time – to lift the Garon Park-based side off the bottom of the table. However, the margin of victory could have been far greater had the home side not passed up a series of decent opportunities.

“I couldn’t be happier – the lads performed and got what we finally deserved,” the Old Boys boss told Yellow Sport.

“Nico, Elliot Hemmings and Ed Gould linked up well today and created so many opportunities.

“Defensively, we were solid – proving what the boys at the back are capable of. Hopefully, can continue to find that type of committed performance. With a bit more confidence we will start climbing that table.”
