Lane left frustrated after Old Boys defeat

Old Southendian 0-1 Rayleigh Town

CONNOR LANE could barely hide his frustration after seeing his Old Southendian side slip to a single-goals ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division defeat to Rayleigh Town at Garon Park.

Lane was satisfied with his sides overall display but disappointed to see them concede on the hour – Paul Morris dispatching what the Old Boys chief described as a ‘cheap free-kick’.

The home sides disappointing afternoon was compounded when Luke Maloney saw red five minutes from time following an altercation with the visitor’s bench.

“We were all positive in the week leading up to this game so to come off the pitch with a loss feels undeserved,” Lane bemoaned.

“Despite looking the more dominant side during the second half, we just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. We must learn from this and put it right next Saturday.

Old Southendian returns to ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division action on Saturday, September 7 when they travel to Harold Wood Athletic (2:30pm).
