Lane upbeat despite Old Boys defeat

Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 3-0 Old Southendian

OLD SOUTHENDIAN boss, Connor Lane, insisted the result didn’t do his side justice after they slipped to a 3-0 ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division defeat at Bishop’s Stortford Swifts.

Xaniel Doku, Chris Gibbs and Terrell Hunter ensured the hosts all three points and a disappointing start to the campaign for the Seasiders. Nevertheless, Lane remained upbeat.

“Morale is still high, the Scoreline doesn’t reflect our performance, unfortunately,” he explained.

“We had a shaky start to both halves, conceding 3 goals and then an unlucky deflected third.

“But there are plenty of positives to take into our next game. Despite last-minute withdrawals due to injury, our reserves swooped in to save us, cancelling their friendly and bolstering our ranks.”
