Manchester United v West Ham United – Carabao Cup – Old Trafford – Report
Manchester United 0-1 West Ham United
West Ham United gained swift and decisive revenge for their Premier League defeat at the hands of Manchester United by knocking the Old Trafford club out of the Carabao Cup at the third round stage.
Manuel Lanzini provide the only goal of the game, slotting home from close range after Ryan Freericks had fashioned an opening from the byline.
Late in the game, Andriy Yarmolenko hit an upright, while Mark Noble was denied by United stopper, Dean Henderson after finding himself clear on goal.
The home side had their moments. However, Alphonse Areola – one of ten changes made by David Moyes – and his backline stood firm as the East Londoners confirmed their progress.
West Ham United now turn their attention back to the Premier League where they will face Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday, September 25 (3pm).
