Walton Casuals 2-1 Great Wakering Rovers
Great Wakering Rovers’ Buildbase FA Trophy adventure came to a heartbreaking conclusion as hosts, Walton Casuals snatched a place in the first round proper thanks to a stoppage-time spot-kick winner.
Rovers – under the guidance of new boss, Glenn Robson, put up a battling display but fell behind thanks to Danny Rowe’s goal just after the twenty-minute mark.
But the villagers made a fist of things. Ashley Nzala restored parity eight minutes after the restart to set up an intriguing finale.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for Robson’s men. Rohdell Gordon’s penalty, six minutes into added time proved to be the last action of the match.
Rovers now turn their attentions back to the Pitching In Isthmian League North where they will face Grays Athletic at Burroughs Park on Tuesday, November 2 (7:45pm).
