Colchester United P-P Rochdale

Colchester United and Rochdale were left frustrated after their Sky Bet League Two clash at the JobServe Community Stadium was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Heavy and consistent showers in the North of Essex left the playing surface extremely soggy in places and despite the efforts of the groundstaff, referee, Craig Hicks made a call shortly after 2:30pm following a second pitch inspection.

Hicks explained: “We thought about delaying the kick-off to give it every chance, but it was not safe to start and finish that game of football.”

Colchester United return to Sky Bet League Two action on Tuesday, January 11 when they take on leaders, Forest Green Rovers at the Fully Charged New Lawn (7:45pm).
