ESSEX’S Dan Lawrence will be lining up with the London Spirit when the new ‘Hundred’ cricket competition gets underway new summer.
The right-handed batsman will link up with the Lord’s base team, along with England’s World Cup-winning skipper Eoin Morgan as well as Rory Burns.
The players were selected in the first stage of the men’s draft, which culminates on October 20, live on Sky Sports.
The new white-ball format will see Eight new city-based teams compete over five weeks with matches consisting of 100-deliveries per innings and a change of ends after every ten balls.
The eight sides competing are as follows: Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that the London Spirit Women’s team will stage some of their ‘home’ fixtures at the Cloudfm County Ground, Chelmsford. England captain, Heather Knight and talented right-arm fast-medium bowler, Freya Davies will both feature for the new franchise.
