Dagenham & Redbridge have further enhanced their Vanarama National League promotion credentials with the signing of Sam Ling following his release from Leyton Orient.
Ling spent just shy of two years with the Daggers, becoming a firm favourite with the Victoria Road crowd following a string of impressive performances.
After 87 appearances for the Daggers, Ling moved across East London, helping the O’s to the National League title during his four seasons at Brisbane Road.
A right-sided defender, the 24-year-old will add steel to an ever-improving group. Speaking to www.daggers.co.uk, boss Daryl McMahon enthused: “We’re over the moon that Sam is joining us. His qualities as a person firstly, I think he’s a good person, honest, and hard-working.
“He obviously comes from a good footballing family, with his dad Martin. I’ve known Sam since he was about five or six, from when I played for Martin at Leyton Orient. He’s been at the football club before and did really well here, so we know what we’re getting.
“Sam’s so versatile, that in itself makes him an important addition to our squad considering it won’t be a huge squad this year, so it’s important to have people that can play in different positions. He’s at a fantastic age now, he was hungry to come back here, there were obviously plenty of clubs in for him, but he chose to join us because he believes in what we’re trying to do at the club.”
