Man arrested following serious collision in Basildon

A man has been arrested following a serious collision on the A127 at Basildon and officers are appealing for witnesses.

It happened at the crossing on the slip road from the A176 (Uppermayne) on the westbound A127 at around 11pm on Saturday December 16.

A silver Ford Focus and a pedestrian were in collision – the pedestrian, a man in his 50s, has sustained injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

The driver of the Focus, a 41 year-old man from Pitsea, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are asking for anyone who saw anything or has any footage to come forward.
