Man charged after fire in Rayleigh

A man has been charged following a fire in Rayleigh.

Wesley Bridge, 18, of Andrewes Way, Rayleigh, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today, Friday December 31, charged with arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered.

The charge follows a fire at an address in Andrewes Way at 7.30pm on Wednesday December 29.

Bridge was remanded in custody and is due to appear next at Basildon Crown Court on Friday January 28.

An 18-year-old woman from Dagenham was also arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the fire.

She has been released under investigation.
