A man has been charged with murder after an alleged assault in Pitsea.
The victim, a 67-year-old man sustained a head injury in the area of Malyon Mews on Wednesday September 15.
He died in hospital the following day.
A post mortem examination found he died as a result of a traumatic head injury.
Edward Roberts, 47, of St Mary’s Crescent, Pitsea, has been charged with murder.
He has also been charged with conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine in relation to a separate investigation.
He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Monday September 20.
