A New Zealand court has found a 27 year-old man guilty of murdering Wickford backpacker Grace Mullane.
The 22 year-old was in Auckland as part of a round-the-world trip and went missing in December 2018 on the eve of her birthday.
Her body, which had been stuffed into a suitcase, was found buried in bushland a week after she had been reported missing. She had been strangled.
A jury at Auckland’s high court rejected claims by the defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, that she died accidentally during “rough sex”.
Grace’s parents were in court to hear the jury’s verdict.
