Man injured in Chigwell break-in

Detectives investigating an attempted robbery at an address in Chigwell last night, Tuesday February 11, are appealing for witnesses.

Police were called at around 8.30pm to reports that four men wearing balaclavas had forced their way into a property on Hycliffe Garden.

One of the occupants was assaulted with a baseball bat, when he challenged the intruders.

All four men got into a grey saloon-style car being driven by a fifth man in the direction of The Chase.

No items were reported stolen.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with potentially serious but non-life changing injuries.

Detective Sergeant Neale Parker from Loughton CID, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who lives or was driving in the area and has a doorbell camera or dash cam footage”.

“We are also keen to speak to those who were in the area around the time and witnessed any suspicious behaviour.”
