Man seriously injured in Chelmsford assault

Detectives have launched an attempted murder investigation after a serious assault in Chelmsford on Friday evening (June 7).

Officers were called to reports that a man had been assaulted in Charnwood Avenue at around 9pm.

At the scene police found a man in his 20s with serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable, but he has potentially life-threatening injuries.

Enquiries are continuing at pace and anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or has any footage is asked to contact police immediately quoting incident 1218 of June 7.
