Man stabbed as violence breaks out on Southend seafront

A dispersal order is currently in place in Southend in response to incidents of disorder last night.

It was put in place at 9.30pm yesterday (Friday June 18) until 9.30pm today and covers the area in and around the seafront.

This is in addition to the Section 60 Authority put in place yesterday which gives officers extended stop and search powers.

Dispersal orders give officers the power to direct anyone they suspect of causing disorder or anti-social behaviour from a particular area.

It comes in response to a number of incidents in and around the seafront yesterday evening.

Detectives investigating an assault which left a man with stab wounds to his neck and stomach have released a CCTV image of a person they want to speak to.

A man was attacked in Marine Parade shortly before 8.10pm.

He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
