Man still in critical condition almost three weeks after Chelmsford ‘altercation’, says Essex Police

Essex Police has issued a renewed appeal for information after a man was left critically injured following a suspected assault in Chelmsford.

The man was hurt in an alleged ‘altercation’ outside the Galleywood Social Club in The Street on Saturday, November 2.

Police issued an update today, Wednesday November 20, to say the man ‘remains in critical condition’.

The force has appealed for anybody with footage of the incident to come forward.

DC Jan Simpson, of Chelmsford CID, said: “A 47-year-old man is still in hospital in a critical condition following a night out. His family remain by his side.

“We would ask anyone who has any information that led to this to come forward.

“If you have mobile phone footage or CCTV of the area from that evening, please contact us.”

*A 28-year-old Chelmsford man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm but has not yet appeared in court.
