Man suffers spinal injury in Westcliff collision

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a serious collision in Westcliff on Wednesday.

Officers were called to reports that a pedestrian and a Ford Fiesta has been involved in the incident, which occurred near the Co-op on London Road shortly before 2.45pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, has suffered a serious spinal injury but is in a stable condition.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 22-year-old man from Leigh-on-Sea, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Chigwell Roads Policing Unit on 101. The incident number to quote is 539 of 18 March.
