Old Southendian Reserves 3-0 Leigh Town Reserves
David Manley was hugely satisfied with his Old Boys side as Reserve League Cup progress was made at the expense of an otherwise stubborn Leigh Town second string at Garon Park.
A patient performance was capped with three goals in the final quarter of an hour. Jack Cripps drilled home the opener from twenty-yards, then Nico Dubouchet doubled the home sides money from close range to all but kill the contest.
Dubouchet added his second and the Old Boys third with an audacious 30-yard lob: “I’m very pleased with the performance and result today, especially the clean sheet,” Manley told Yellow Sport.
“We played some nice football at a good tempo and created five clear cut chances in the first half but just couldn’t put them away.
Manley added: “We utilised the roll on roll off subs in the second half – it was a squad effort that won us the game, especially Nico coming off the bench to bag a brace. We’re looking forward to another good cup run this year.”
