Manning pleased with Hulllbridge’s progress

Southend United 3-0 Hullbridge Sports

DARREN MANNING was delighted with his Hullbridge Sports side despite witnessing them slip to a three-goal defeat against Sky bet League Two outfit, Southend United, at the Blues Boots & Laces training ground.

Southend handed a debut to loan signing, Jordan Green, in the latter part of the game and despite goals from Miles-Mitchell Nelson, Brandon Goodship and Stephen Humphrys proving decisive. Manning – who’s side ply their trade four divisions lower – was satisfied with what he’s seen from his charges.

It Was a very good workout for us,” Manning told Yellow Sport.

“The lads did themselves proud against professional opposition.

“We have been working on our defensive phases –

today was the toughest test they will have all season to perfect it and they did extremely well.

Meanwhile, following on from their midweek success over Great Wakering Rovers, Blues boss, Mark Molesley, remained enthusiastic and positive over what he had seen.

“I think everyone stood out,” he told www.southendunited.co.uk.

“We’re looking at the team as a whole at the moment. I think we are displaying the right things and trying to do the right things.

“At the moment we’re pleased, but there’s always room for improvement and we’ll be seeking to do that every day. It’s just looking at ways we can improve ourselves and the team every training session.”
