West Ham United v Viborg FF – UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round – London Stadium – Reaction

West Ham United 3-1 Viborg FF

Assistant manager, Billy McKinlay faced the media after West Ham United’s 3-1 UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round first-leg victory over Danish outfit, Viborg FF at teh London Stadium.

Gianluca Scamacca, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio netted for the East Londoners, but despite establishing a healthy lead, McKinley wasn’t thrilled with the performance: “From our point of view, I think it was a bit frustrating,” he explained.

“We had some good moments, periods in the game but they probably weren’t for long enough at times. We were trying to find that rhythm across the ninety minutes. A bit of a mixed bag really in terms of emotions.”

Scamacca’s performance was a huge plus for the Hammers: “He’s probably super pleased and I’m equally as pleased,” McKinlay added.

“All strikers are judged on goals and to get off the mark really quickly. A new career, new surroundings, it’s a big thing for us and for centre forwards.

“They live on that, don’t they? He’ll be delighted. Saw some good moments of that, still short of games, still short of match fitness, he’s not played a game. Plenty more to come from him. He’ll be pleased to get off the mark.”
