Medlocks Southend Evening Cricket League – Round-Up

Two local derbies dominated this week’s Medlocks Southend Evening Cricket League fixtures and both had a significant effect on the current table.

Rayleigh maintained their one hundred per cent record at the top of the table with a victory over Rayleigh Fairview. Meanwhile, Leigh On Sea came out on top against Westcliff On Sea at Chalkwell Park in another keenly contested encounter.

Rayleigh Fairview posted 74/9 off sixteen overs, with Joe Turner contributing 20 – Hackerman impressing with the ball for Rayleigh, taking 4/15 during his four-over spell.

Luke Guyler provided the league’s best bowling performance of the season so far, sensationally taking 4/8 as the Alleyn Court Aces kittled Canewdon for 35.

Adam Mayhew provided ample back-up with 2/5 in a match reduced to fourteen overs. Noel Smith retired out on 51, while Rob McKay was unbeaten on 44 as the Aces posted 135/2 and recorded their first victory of the season. Gary Holmes, with 1/22, a crumb of comfort for teh well-beaten villagers.
