Eastwood got their East Division campaign underway with an 84-run victory over Canewdon at Belfairs Park.

The home side posted 152 for six, with Praghash Ganeshalingam unbeaten on 45, while Brett Deeming contributed 29 – Clay was the pick of the visitors attack with two for 22.

Max Richards carried the fight for Canewdon, hitting 42. However, Michael Stirrup led the way with the ball for Eastwood, returning hugely impressive figures of five for 8 as the hosts won with some to spare.

In the West Division, Westcliff-on-Sea – 154 for five – beat Rayleigh by 61 runs, with Agsalam (48) and P Patel (33) amongst the runs. Hood claimed 3/29 in vain for Rayleigh, who responded with 93/4 in a sixteen-over match. S Miller scored 45*.

Nevertheless, Rayleigh made Richard Deadman League Cup progress with a six-wicket success over local rivals Rayleigh Fairview.

Fairview were restricted to 98 for seven in another sixteen-over affair. Tom Webster top scored with 27, while Josh Faires contributed 21, Josh Mantle (2/10) and Ben Hoskins (2/8) were the pick of the Rayleigh bowlers.

Rayleigh achieved their target within twelve overs. Toby Turner led the way with 29, while Miller (19*) and Sam Skillet (16*) helped their side over the line.
