Glen Norfolk took the plaudits as Southend On Sea & EMT recorded a sizable 71-run victory over Canewdon.
Norfolk chipped in with an unbeaten 32, complimenting a half-century from Joe Sibbons as the Southechurch Park club posted 123/4 – Broad the pick of the bunch with the ball for Canewdon, taking 3/14.
Norfolk then grabbed the limelight with the ball, finishing with incredible figures of 1/5, helping his side send the villagers packing for just 52.
Alleyn Court Aces saw off Civic Centre by 39 runs. Smith retired on 53, while Morely 36* and Frankel 32* were amongst the runs as the Aces posted 181/9 – Robinson (4/29) and Khan (3/36) starring in the Civic attack. Khan scored 41, while Colwill was unbeaten on 38 but Civic Centre (142/8) was to fall short.
Westcliff On Sea were too strong for Rayleigh, winning by 44 runs. Portugal retired on 51 as Westcliff posted 171/4 – Everitt with 4/29 for Rayleigh.
Rayleigh never really looked like surpassing that total – Litter (29) top-scored. Hewitt (2/24) the pick of the Westcliff bowlers.
Elsewhere, Eastwood’s clash with Leigh On Sea fell foul of the inclement weather conditions. Meanwhile, Hockley was forced to forfeit their game with Rayleigh Fairview after struggling to raise a team.
