Medlock Southend Evening Cricket League Round-up

It’s hotting up at the top of the Medlock Southend Evening Cricket League with several clubs very much in with a shout of the title.

With Rayleigh out of action, Westcliff On Sea took full advantage, climbing to the summit by a greater run rate after recording a victory over Civic Centre.

Alleyn Court Aces saw off Rayleigh Fairview to move within a point of the leaders, while Leigh On Sea could make a late charge if they can restage recently postponed fixtures, including last weeks match with Hockley.

Alleyn Court posted 124/6 against Fairview, with Noel Smith retiring on 52, while Rob McKay contributed a further 22.

Ayres took 2/15 for Fairview and scored 21 with the bat. However, 3/11 from Adam Flemming, Toby Duffin’s 3/16 and 2/11 from Luke Guyler oversaw Fairview’s dismissal for 56 inside fifteen overs as teh Aces secured a vital victory.

Eastwood took on Canewdon at Balfairs Park, scoring a modest 96/7 – Matt Feathers top-scoring with 33 – Alex Pitchfotth (3/8) and jack Broads (2/14) performing amicably with the ball for the visitors.
