Mixed emotions for Lane but a vital point for Old Boys

Shenfield AFC 1-1 Old Southendian

CONNOR LANE had mixed feeling after overseeing his Old Southendian sides ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division draw at fellow strugglers, Shenfield AFC.

A tight contest saw the Old Boys create several decent opportunities before Craig Paton provided a cool finish for his fifth goal in as many matches to give the Seasiders a first-half advantage.

However, Lane’s charges failed to kill the match and Shenfield grabbed a share of the spoils thanks to a goal from substitute, Ben Carroll.

“We are disappointed not to have extended our lead, which ultimately cost us two points,” lane told Yellow Sport.

“I can’t grumble as several weeks ago we would have thrown that game away. Shenfield put up a fight in the second half, making it difficult for us.

“Our team is always improving, especially with some players returning from long term injuries. We want to keep collecting points and pushing up the table.”
