Mixed fortunes for Wakering’s walking footballers

Wakering Walking Football Club’s over-50s endured mixed fortunes during their recent round of Essex League Division One matches.

Wakering hosted fellow title contenders, Romford at Garon Park in a well-contested double-header and they got off to a flying start by winning the first encounter by three unanswered goals with Glenn Burton bagging a brace and Dave Willis also finding the net.

However, Romford returned to the top of the table by winning the second fixture by a goal to nil. Wakering sits in third place as a result, three points behind Romford and two adrift of second-placed Concord Rangers.
